Hardcore Short Reviews for the Instagram… Power!
Now this is a very non-hype shit, right?! Living for social media?! Well, not living for social media, just spreading the Lord’s word on social media, which is very different. Now, who is the Lord?! Starting praise in a few moments…
Inner Peace – “Floorbreaker”
(2024)
Now, what is this?! I was just
checking Body Count’s most recent track yesterday, and when I head on over to
check these guys from Indianapolis, Indiana, I get the same vibe, the same rage
and anger! Thrashy Core I dare say. Like the vocals. Not harsh, not weak, just
the necessary power for the music. I like it. Sounds old, with a capital O. Does
that make sense to you? It should. 90ies Hardcore is alive and well, in 2024. Go
check these guys, for their music is more than just punching and kicking the
atmosphere around you.
You Should Be With Us
– “In Plain Sight” (Delayed Gratification Records, 2024)
This is just what I like. Again, it sounds Old, but in a NY style Old. Melodic as hell, powerful, it almost gives you that peace of mind and spirit feeling. A bit like what Shelter does to me, these lads are able to bring that happy sound, that good vibe sound, and we need it now more than ever. I like it a lot. No gimmicks or complex stuff, just Hardcore. Go!
Mile End – “Mile End” (New Morality Zine, 2024)
No more mister soft guy. Bring in
the big guns and start smashing! The fact that these 8-tracks were released by
NMZ shows a lot of what we have here. What is it that se have here? Not your
plain Hardcore machine, but a specimen that gathers different sounds from the
universe of Hardcore, and that is why we have different moments, cadences, sounds,
and atmospheres. Overall? Hard as nails and tough as prime Mike Tyson. Man, I can
even hear some shy Mathcore stuff in there. You get it: a bunch of ingredients
and let us see what we come up with. Result is enjoyable, very much enjoyable. Slows
down where it should, speeds up when needed… more relatable with younger fans
of the genre, maybe. Anyhow, consider giving it a listen.
Secret World – “Guilt
is Good” (Last Ride Records / Sunday Drive Records, 2024)
With Basement playing shows, and High Vis releasing a new record, I have to put my full effort on this sound, d’you know what I mean? You do not? You wanker, bugger off! Well, Aussie mates are firing up all cannons when it comes to melodic Hardcore Punk with that Pop edge. I see High Vis, for example, as the Hardcore band for the Brit Pop fans, and I will stick to that, and I will fucking love it all the way! Man, I believe that all the Hardcore fans have a special place for melodic Hardcore Punk, right? Not cheesy, but melodic, and these guys, just like High Vis, sound British (maybe not the best way to describe them), which is a major turn-on for me! This is great, really great. Not sure if it gives you the power to lift like a beast, but you can always dance around the gym, and stuff. Epic as hell, yes!
Wasted Life - Demo '24 (Armageddon Records, 2024)
One more step back in time! Wasted
Life sounds old and good. If you gave it to that raw and simple, I would be
very curious about it. If there is a thing I like to hear when we talk music is
“it sounds old and raw”, it sounds sweet and delicious, does it not? Old School
prick right here. Wasted Life are not old at all. In fact, this is their first
release, and it sounds spot-on. What is it? It is Hardcore with the aggression
of Thrash without falling completely into the Crossover thing, and a lot slower and heavier, sort of... Integrity style?! Is that good? Ah,
it is amazing! 8-minutes, not more than that, and you get slapped, punched,
kicked, stabbed, shoot… and you are one happy mother that! Yeah, this rips!
