Insomnia Pálida – “Gritos de Dor no Profundo Inferno” (Self-released 2019)
O
primeiro contacto que tive com este projecto, originário de Bragança, foi em
2018. Aquilo que inicialmente começou como um projecto de DSBM, em 2019 cresceu
para um som mais associado ao Raw Black Metal. Toda a melancolia transposta
para música e líricas, deu lugar a um som mais agressivo e cru, uma produção
ainda mais suja e uma maior simplicidade no produto final. Tendo em conta que
um pouco de mim é brigantino, depressa tomei este som como algo que deveria ser
dado a conhecer, quer fosse por ter qualidade, quer fosse por mostrar que ainda
há quem queira fazer algo diferente, num local onde o mesmo não é regra. Ainda
que fugindo do rótulo DSBM, a música de Insomnia Pálida não perdeu a faceta
melódica, carregada de mágoa e desgosto. Os vocais mantêm a linha de execução,
soando acima dos instrumentos; perdeu-se a guitarra portuguesa, mas os riffs
continuam a ser o principal motor da já referida melodia: uma fluidez imensa,
sempre incisivos. Esta será, quiça, a marca mais visível que fica da linha DSBM
anteriormente trabalhada pelo projecto. Porventura a bateria será o elemento
mais fraco. Ainda que o recurso a linhas simples e repetitivas seja uma das
realidades no que ao Black Metal se refere, aqui não só soam demasiado
estáticas, como pouco inventivas. Ainda assim, de modo algum vem manchar o
produto final.
A mudança
operada aquando da Demo anterior, nesta “O Frio faz o Homem”, mantém-se. A
toada Raw é, neste momento, uma presença constante na música de Insomnia
Pálida, mas sem nunca esquecer toadas mais cadentes e melancólicas. A cena
portuguesa cresce de dia para dia. Surgem novos projectos com alguma
regularidade, tornando difícil manter-se actualizado quanto aos mesmos.
Infelizmente, muitos desses projectos falham no que à qualidade se refere,
especialmente neste segmento tão subversivo como o Raw Black Metal. Considero
que esta nova Demo é um passo em frente na escada evolutiva. O trabalho de
bateria soa muito mais orgânico e criativo; as vocalizações mantêm a toada a
que nos vêm habituando desde a primeira Demo há uns anos; as linhas de
guitarra, arrastadas e densas, são uma constante. Apesar de o lado mais
Depressivo ter sido um tanto ou quanto extraído desta nova fase de criação,
ainda conseguimos vislumbrar alguns resquícios, como que recordando-nos de como
era antes do peso ter sido tirado das costas deste criador.

The first contact I had with this project, originally from Bragança, was in 2018. What initially started as a DSBM project, in 2019 grew to a sound more associated with Raw Black Metal. All the melancholy transposed to music and lyrics, gave way to a more aggressive and raw sound, an even more dirty production and greater simplicity in the final product. Bearing in mind that a little bit of me is brigantine, I quickly took this sound as something that should be made known, whether it was for quality or for showing that there are still those who want to do something different, in a place where it is not rule. Although fleeing the DSBM label, Insomnia Pálida's music has not lost its melodic side, full of hurt and disgust. The vocals maintain the line of execution, sounding above the instruments; the Portuguese guitar was lost, but the riffs continue to be the main engine of the aforementioned melody: immense fluidity, always incisive. This will be, perhaps, the most visible brand that remains of the DSBM line previously worked by the project. Perhaps the drums are the weakest element. Although the use of simple and repetitive lines is one of the realities with regard to Black Metal, here they not only sound too static, but not very inventive. Still, there is no way to stain the final product.

The change made at the time of the previous Demo, in this “O Frio faz o Homem”, remains. The raw tone is, at this moment, a constant presence in the music of Insomnia Pálida, but without ever forgetting more “heavy” and melancholic tones. The Portuguese scene grows day by day. New projects appear with some regularity, making it difficult to keep up to date on them. Unfortunately, many of these projects fail in terms of quality, especially in a segment as subversive as Raw Black Metal. I believe that this new Demo is a step forward on the evolutionary ladder. Drum work sounds much more organic and creative; vocals maintain the tone that they have been accustomed to since the first Demo, a few years ago; the guitar lines, drawn and dense, are a constant. Although the most Depressive side was extracted somewhat from this new phase of creation, we still managed to catch a glimpse of some remnants, as if remembering what it was like before the weight was removed from this creator's back.
