Duo Norte-americano de Black Metal ou de Punk, ou de Black Metal e Punk. De certo modo estes dois encarnam, de um modo bastante fiel, aquela que é a essência do Black Metal, ora vejamos: corrosivos, ásperos e escuros, viscerais e decadentes… é quase Black Metal a 100%, aquele que não vive assente em Folks medievais ou ambientes soturnos e esotéricos! Bone Awl é uma descarga de violência muito próxima do Crust e do Noise – Grind também, de certo modo… a atitude é tudo.

Em 18 anos de existência, este é só o 2.º álbum da banda – entre uma imensidão de Demos, EPs e Splits. Constantes naquilo que apresentam, de início a fim a Podridão é a mesma, o odor a Urina e Cerveja, o vislumbre do efeito das drogas pesadas no Ser Humano, todos estes "sintomas" da doença que é a banda, estão bem retratados neste "An Obelisk Marks the Line". A simplicidade do Punk e a genuinidade do Black Metal, acabam por criar este híbrido que se mostra tremendo. Plena energia negra e fustigante agressão. Que mais dizer? Pouco mais há a dizer, sinceramente… vejam o quão "simples" é este trabalho ahahah

Se estava à espera desta descarga? In a way. Se veio encher a minha 2.ª Feira de manhã com menos vontade de viver? Não diria que não…

North American duo of Black Metal or Punk, or Black Metal and Punk. In a way these two embody, in a very faithful way, that which is the essence of Black Metal, now let's see: corrosive, rough and dark, visceral and decadent ... it is almost 100% Black Metal, the one who does not live based on Folks medieval or dark and esoteric environments! Bone Awl is a discharge of violence very close to Crust and Noise - Grind also, in a way ... Attitude is everything.

In 18 years of existence, this is only the band's 2nd album - among an immensity of Demos, EPs and Splits. Constant in what they present, from beginning to end the Rot is the same, the odor of Urine and Beer, the glimpse of the effect of heavy drugs on the Human Being, all these "symptoms" of the disease that is the band, are well portrayed in this " An Obelisk Marks the Line ". The simplicity of Punk and the genuineness of Black Metal, end up creating this hybrid that proves to be tremendous. Full black energy and lashing aggression. What else to say? Little more to say, honestly ... see how "simple" this job is ahahah

Invicta Reqviem Mass Seventh Gathering Well, hello there. Getting close to this year’s finest UG Black Metal gathering, are we? Oh yes, we are!   Marthe “Further in Evil” (Southern Lord, 2023) I was completely unaware of the existence of this project, and only today stumbled upon it while scrolling on a very famous Black Metal group on Facebook. While reading the description of a photo, I saw The Devil’s Blood and Mediterranean Heavy Metal influences mentioned, as well as Antifascism and Italy. Scrolled down a bit more and read Bathory. Went straight to YouTube and added Tiamat, “Clouds” era (vocals at times), to it. It might sound a bit strange and misplaced, but let me tell you: it bloody works. Marthe is composed of one single musician, Marziona Silvani – stage/artist name, Marzia – and she has been around for some time. From what I understood, Marthe started out while Marzia was still rocking the drums in Ancient Cult, an Italian Heavy Doom band that since then closed the doors on existence.   Infernal Angels “Shrine of Black Fire” (Immortal Frost Productions, 2023) 2023 has been, so far – and we are almost done with the year – a splendid year for Black Metal. Strangely enough I have been focusing more on bands and albums that have a deliberate melodic approach to the sound, rather than going for the Raw Black Metal acts. Not that we do not have been infernally blessed with exquisite works of Art, but the well-produced records have been calling for me, and I have answered the call. Immortal Frost is a bit to blame for that. Surtur has released, so far, at least 2 records I believe will be considered some of the best I had the pleasure to listen to this year: Infinity’s “The Untamed Hunger” and Deadspace’s “Unveiling the Palest Truth”; an honorable mention to Azaghal’s “Alttarimme on Luista Tehty”, that shows a band still pushing hard! The label’s latest release is Infernal Angel’s “Shrine of the Black Fire”, and we’ll jump right into the fire to see what we got here!
