Princess – “Control” (2025)
Princess is a Metallic Hardcore band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and they rip. Period, the end, have a great day. We could easily leave it as it is; however, we do leave out a lot of what makes the band, great. Call it Metallic Hardcore might lead you to a Cro-Mag thing, or even a Metalcore thing, and both are wrong, or incomplete.
Princess is a female fronted steamroller, and it holds so much power and aggressiveness, that these 7-minutes and 20-seconds feel like falling down the stair on a bloody loop… beautiful. A thing I like about their sound, is the grove. I find their groove to be epic, and it does helps “soothe” the overall violence, giving it balance and dynamics.
Overall… slap in the
face, kick in the ribs, and punch in the throat. Maximum violence, physical
poetry. It hurts, right? So does “Control”. Deal with it!
Spent – “All That I Have Buried” (2025)
I came across Spent on the xBrutalYouth666x YouTube Channel, and I have to set up a contract with the lad behind it, so I am up to date with all the coolest HC releases out there, damn! This one took me by surprise, and I loved it. Been on a loop, along with Princess and Saccage, and you should also check it out.
Music wise: Hardcore, Old-school sounding with modern seasoning. Makes sense? Imagine that amazing dish your granny did; now imagine your European babe adding some spices to it. How does it taste? Like your granny’s but upgraded. Was that a misogynist comment? I hope you all understand my point was food… actual food. No matter… Spent is Old School with a modern flare. That opening… BOOOOOM! The pit imploded!
Naaaaah! No rest for
anyone out there! I have been listening to this so much, that I mosh around
while working muahahah jokes aside, this is a very cool release, a very “my cup
of tea” kind of Hardcore, although I do listen to different things, here and there
that, just like Princess’, gives it dynamic and keeps it always pumping!
Ivy – “Ivy” (2025)
Oh boy! Sorry, oh girl! Again…violence with drops of female elegance! This time I need to thank the mate behind No Punks in K Town for the heads-up (amazing YouTube channel for fans of Punk, Hardcore, Post-hardcore and cool music in general) on this Swiss band. And how do they sound?
Hardcore, Punk, a bloody heavy bass, bits of modernity, Old-school stuff. Blend it well, you get Ivy. For fans of Batman: Poison Ivy was a mix of sensual beauty and psychotic killer. Ivy is a very recent band, born from the fusion of Elizabeth and Life As War, with the addition of a young female vocalist, hence the name?! Well, let me keep that idea, ok? It makes so much sense.
Ok, Old-school sound and violence: check. I get a Minor Threat chill, every now and then, d’you know what I mean?! But… contemporary elements make it a different beast, with a different energy and power. Stamina is immensely high on this one. My back cannot take the power, laying down. Thank you.
“Ivy” is a 6-track
release, no track over 2-minutes, plenty of power and aggressiveness,
Old-school groove. Man, what more do you want?! Do not be a prick… mosh it!
