Veneration – “Thy Infernal” (2020) Well, I have always been a supporter of innovation, and when it comes to Black Metal, even more. So much can be done, so much can be crafted if one puts their mind to it. But then, we all have these moments when you sort of feel this sense of longing and nostalgia, and you go back to the beginning, back to roots of the genre. “Thy Infernal” is a 5 song EP, the first released by one man band Veneration, out by Polish label, Fallen Temple YF, the sole member of Veneration is one of those musicians that, in a way, still lives in the Past, still replicates what musicians like Cronos and Quorthon – first incarnation – created! It holds that raw feeling to its Music, to its approach to Black Metal. It has a Nordic side to it, an essence for Norwegian Black Metal in the way the guitar riffs are stripped of useless, unnecessary artifices. Cutting guitar riffs! THE NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HARDCORE QUALITY CONTROL HQ  Gutter Knife – “Boots on the Ground” (2019)            Brighton is the place to be, when it comes to these lads. Gutter Knife have been slaying the nation since 2017, when a group of 5 boys got together and decided to craft the harshest piece of classic Hardcore ever seen on the land. Well, this fucker is so deeply infused in Oi! one ends up splattered all over the place. The vocals are menacing as Hell, and the violence that drips from every single note, is immense. I blame it on living by the ocean. There has to be a reason for such a dark, yet energetic piece of music!             “Boots on the Ground” is the band’s 1 st Full-length after 1 Demo and 1 Promo… and let us not forget the live recording! And here is where the band really shows their colours. Not that this “Boots…” does not, but I have always felt that Hardcore and Punk/Oi! are better sounding, in a live environment. A maioria deles saem das entranhas de Euskal Herria, com aquele fogo que tão bem conhecemos aos camaradas bascos! As Publicações Mil No seguimento deste blog surgiu a necessidade de, e em muito devido à paixão pelas publicações do Passado, passar para papel estes textos digitais. De entrevistas a reviews e artigos de opinião, há um pouco de tudo, sendo que a  ideia inicial era - e ainda se mantém - de levar a cabo uma distribuição física das mesmas. Algumas - "Abasy" - viram a luz do dia graças ao amor que o Sr. Manuel Ferreira (Bunker Store, Porto) nutre, como eu, pelo Heavy Metal, pela Música em geral e por tudo aquilo que vive à volta destes. Mais virão, sendo que estas serão disponibilizadas em formato físico, a quem desejar, no pós-COVID-19. Enjoy.
