VEMOD -  Dark Ethereal Metal Thank you for your time. It is indeed a great pleasure to have you here in my little fanzine. Atypical year for all of us, right?   It has been, yes. Although as an introvert living outside of the most urban areas, life has not changed as dramatically for me as it has for many others during this strange time. We have been able to stay safe and continue working. In fact, it has been a very productive period for me and for Vemod. You complete, this year, 21 years of existence. Your discography, by comparison, is a bit sparse compared to the band’s life. Is there any reason, in 21 years, for just 1 Album, 1 Split and 2 Demos?   The reasons are manifold. In the early years, the time in between the first demo and the first album, there was so much transformation going on in our personal lives. We were growing as individuals, expanding our horizons in all kinds of ways, also musically, and we were not yet quite certain about what direction Vemod was to ta

Urgeist - Nature & Man Thank you very much, first of all, for the opportunity. Let me start by asking you what is the concept behind Urgeist? How was this entity born, which lives in Folk and Black Metal? URGEIST was born out of the will doing my own musical thing, and not being dependent on permanent cooperation with other musicians, cause all my Black Metal Bands till then failed somehow. I also had a Neo Folk Solo Project called RATATÖSKR back then, which didn’t fit anymore to my aspirations of creativity. This brought me to combine my passion for Mid 90’s Black Metal and Neo Folk. If there is one thing that has always attracted me, to Black Metal, is the ability that it has to transfer, to music, images and scenarios that we sometimes have as real. Your music is cold, dense, interconnected with sounds from centuries ago. How would you characterize your creation? URGEIST is the primitive, atavistic synthesis of Norwegian Black Metal and Swiss Ländler Noise. "De Aelb

Mons Veneris – “Inversados d’Um Abismo de Podridão” (Signal Rex, 2022)   (originally written for Black Metal Daily)   I believe it is with a bit of expectation that one awaits the release of a new Mons Veneris record. Mons Veneris has never been a linear Artists. His Music has never followed a strict, and predictable, line. Maybe that is what fascinates people the most. The fact that we can get an Atmospheric, or a Black Metal release, and even then, it might not sound like his previous Atmospheric and Black Metal endeavors. Sick World we live in, right? When we were expecting stability…   His 2017 release – “Untitled” – is probably my favorite from him. The way he balanced his 2 facets, is really amazing. Forward to 2022 and the EP – “Torches of Entrancement” – shows an Artist playing with what he knows best. These are probably my favorite “incarnations” of Mons Veneris. When he sometimes dwells too much into his ritualistic side, his Music comes out sort of “dead”, without that spar

Primordial Serpent – Ascension of Dark Times Well, this took a while to post, but it finally is up on the Blog. Primordial Serpent is a one-man-band masterminded by Geoff Coran (Dojo Kobra, Kalameet). "The Winter Warrior" was the catalyst for me to contact him. Since then he has released 2 more albums and 1 EP. The battle continues, and the warrior persists. Welcome. I was pleased to receive a positive response from you for this interview. The release of the “The Winter Warrior” made me contact you earlier than my logistics allowed, but here we are.                                         I will start off by asking you how Primordial Serpent was born. How has your previous journey in Music prepared you, in a way, for this adventure? Well first of all, thanks for reaching out for me for this interview. I guess the birth of Primordial Serpent came about as a means to help get through the covid pandemic. Right before the 2 nd wave had hit Manitoba, I’d just finished
