I S O L A T I O N Insómnia Pálida - Northern Depressions Bragança is far away. Separated from everything and everyone, sheltered in her white, cold and welcoming mantle. Isolation is positive, make no mistake. “Those who live beyond Marão, and the rulers”. I have always seen Bragança as that distant castle, isolated and submerged in a mist that is very much its own. It is that tight hug. It turns out to be a land that requires an immense immersion, a difficult “digestion”. For many, being away hurts. Being away is a burden. Being far away is an impossibility of... of something, of someone, of a light in the background. Nevertheless, Art survives these impediments and realities... Insómnia Pálida is one of the examples of this perseverance. Alongside Ventre Maligno (which has ceased activities in the meantime), Silêncio (which I believe are now… dead) and Dark Alchemy, it demonstrates that distance is not an impediment. The project dates from 2018, if I am not mistaken. Project by a sin

KOLPEKA Euskal Herria Oi!

5 Questions, 5 Musicians… closing the curtain before a new act. Do you recall the idea that gave birth to the physical fanzine that I developed? Well, it all started with this concept: 5 questions, 5 bands / musicians. Awhile back I decided to give the questions a polish, and see if I was able to come up with more intricate, and interesting ones. This interview to Ritual Flail's main man, Nattskog (Jørgen Sven Kirby) was the last one that I did that fits the cast, and it will help to introduce the next segment: "5 Questions, 5 Musicians", redone. What role does Black Metal play in your daily life? How does it fit in your perspective of the World and Life in general?   Black Metal and Heavy Metal in general is what consumes me entirely. I spend my days listening to record, making music for my various projects (alongside Ritual Flail I also have: Sykelig Englen, Garden Of Eyes, Hexivoid, Blasphemous Degradation and a few others), I also write reviews on my webzine, run a Me

Bastard Altar – “Struggling Beams of a Waning Moon” (Geistraum Records / Escafismo Records, 2021) You probably heard of Bow Wielder before, right? A Raw Black Punk Metal act from Virginia, USA. Well, the lad behind this insane entity created one more of these insane entities, by the name of Bastard Altar. Unlike its odd brother, Bastard Altar lives on a slightly distinct universe. Wait, we still have powerful moments of rage and aggressiveness, but Ben added an element that I have loved since I first started with black metal: keyboards. Those small, very well-placed moments, where the keyboard is the most important element in the song… it is amazing. It is, indeed, a relatively short Demo, but a gigantic one at the same time. 2 songs, 2 instrumental moments (Intro and Interlude). These moments where no voice is heard, are particularly intense, in my opinion. Peaceful and slow, we get entangled in its webs, its melodies that lure us into this black, bottomless pit, claustrophobic abyss…

Russian Assault Against Modern Society Black Metal lives in all geographies of the World, which is of common knowledge. Russian Black Metal, the one that came from underneath the dirty, brings Hate and Anger, and a powerful will to rebel. МРАКОБЕС are a perfect example of the exquisite combination of stripped-down Punk, and Raw Black Metal. This is no new take on the genre, but very little have, in my modest opinion, perfectly replicated what Ildjarn crafted years ago. МРАКОБЕС are not, in any way, an Ildjarn tribute band, as they well state, but you get the picture. Check out  Horrible Room (web archival Bandcamp... check these mothafucking crazy arse lunatics if you have not yet...) , amazing Russian Black Metal label that has given us this amazing gift! Welcome. Let me begin by asking you to contextualize your name. According to what I read in Metal-archives, the same can be translated / interpreted as "enemy of progress, culture and science", among others. Is there

Chalice Ablaze   Rituals of Death & Doom  Words of Old in Times of Despair & Rotten Spirits Thank you, first, for your availability. It was with pleasure that I received your acceptance for an interview. Thank you. My pleasure too. Chalice Ablaze is, like many, an entity that remains anonymous. Still, what can you tell us more about it, and its history? Its history is rather short. I have had the idea of the project for some time, but it was not until mid-March this year, when I wrote its first riffs, that Chalice Ablaze came alive. I released the first demo, Beneath Abyssal Graves, a few days later. Then I released an EP, Rites of Abhorrent Redemption, mid-May. And that's about it for now. As Chalice Ablaze is so fresh, I almost exclusively focus on the future. I have many plans for future releases and there are several things in motion at this moment.       What concept, or idea, did you use to create Chalice Ablaze? The main idea is, simple enough, to mak
