IRON LUNG RECORDS    Once again, the nice blokes from Iron Lung greeted me with their exquisite taste in musical diversity. I have always looked at Music as a massive variety of colours, emotions and feelings of all sorts. Also, as a gateway to extra sensory experiences. What do we look for, in music? How does her warm breath comfort us, in hours of need or moments of intense joy. It is always there when you need it, and sometimes when you would prefer for it to not be there. It almost feels like it has a mind of its own, popping from everywhere. A multitude of bruises, emotional ones, scattered all over the individual’s soul. Deftones - 20 Anos Depois    Comprei o álbum aquando do seu lançamento. Creio que conhecia 1 ou 2 músicas dos trabalhos anteriores e, verdade seja dita, nunca me agarraram, pelo que não me considerava um fã da banda. Ainda assim, arrisquei e comprei-o. Nunca fui de guilty pleasures, nunca. Sou, até certo ponto, bastante eclético. De NTM a Mons Veneris, e tudo entre estes, Música é a minha cena.    E assim, a casa chega o CD. A capa, simples e eficaz como poucas. A música… 20 anos depois consigo, facilmente, acompanhar o Sr. Chino em cada um dos hinos que compõem aquele que é, para mim, o melhor trabalho da banda. Congruity / Hate Disposal – “Two Paths of Extreme Greatness – Shattered / Legacy” (EP 2020, Bonesaw Entertainment - Label & Distro) Congruity – “Shattered”    Segundo informação, a banda está situada no espectro Black/Death. Por norma fujo destes híbridos. Não consigo assimilar a vertente Black Metal, já que o Death Metal espreita a cada esquina e, quem me conhece, sabe bem que Death Metal é género que pura e simplesmente não consigo assimilar. Sim, nem os clássicos, esses que estais a enumerar e a questionar como raio pode, um gajo, não ouvir. O som destes Congruity vive entre ambos os géneros referidos. No passado dos membros de Congruity há referências a uma banda com uma sonoridade Gothic Metal (Edenial Lust), mas que de certo modo mantém-se um tanto ou quanto viva, aqui. Barbaric Horde – “Axe of Superior Savagery” (Godz Ov War Productions, 2020)    I have always considered Black Metal to be the most extreme fringe of Heavy Metal. Given its diversity and ability to adapt, grow and evolve in several directions, it has proven that there are no limits to its musical extremism.    Bestial War Black Metal, the name was given to Blasphemy and Sarcófago in its early days. Its dirty, raw and filthy approach to Black Metal, was an expression of Hate and Destruktion. Nortavlaggh.377 - “Demo 2020”    Z:c4, from Singapore, put together this beast, in 2004. During the course of these 16 years, not much has been put out by the musician, adding to a total of 2 Demos and 1 Split, prior to this new one, from 2020. One thing I have learned throughout the years, is how Asian Black Metal musicians (and fans) take their sound seriously, and “violently”, for that matter. Violent, in terms of the disposition of the Music, not that they are violent people. Their output on Black/Death Metal is much more than just a Beherit or Blasphemy copycat. You can, of course, sense that punitive and caustic facet of their music, but you can also hear an exotic approach to the music.  Bands like Impiety, Abhorer or Surrender of Divinity, or even Zygoatsis, all of them carrying high the torch of Ross Bay Cult, yet, at the same time, adding layers and layers of something else, something dynamic and different.    Nortavlaggh.377 is the definitive creation...

Judge – “Bringin' It Down” (1989)    Editado em 1989, o impacto deste álbum, no universo Hardcore, ainda hoje se sente. Os Judge sempre viveram um pouco à margem da cena de Nova Iorque. As próprias “personagens” que compunham a mesma, não eram os sta ndard musicians HC, de certo modo. Ajudou, claro, toda a mística (em falta de melhor palavra) e mistério que sempre pairou na figura do Mike. Toda aquela pessoa, um tanto ou quanto singular, com a mensagem aguerrida, o ar agressivo, fomentaram uma ideia, da banda, que tardou anos e anos em desvanecer. E um dia o Mike, desapareceu…    A “Take me Away” será, porventura, a minha malha favorita de toda a cena Hardcore, seja ela dos 70, dos 80, dos 90 ou dos 2000. Aqueles 6 segundos de silêncio, até entrar o feedback da guitarra, para 4 segundos depois rasgar o riff mais “pesado” do HC! 1 minuto e 21 segundos até o Sr. Mike "Judge" Ferraro abrir as goelas e sair clássico. Maldito – “O Renascer, O Crer” (2020) O dia 5 de Junho de 2020 fica marcado pela release do 1.º EP deste “super grupo” (por mais que abomine o termo) da cena Black Metal nacional. Contando com membros de Corpus Christii, Flagellum Dei e Grievance, estes Maldito vêm dilacerar os (recém) estabelecidos cânones do Black Metal (português).
